Let There Be Light

A new year ... and we begin it with new lights. Lights in ceiling fans, that is. I have hated our old ceiling fans in the den since the day we moved into this house, and not just because half the sockets did not function. They were also very, very ugly (not unlike MOST of the lighting in this house). We have slowly been chipping away at the ugliness and have been buying new lighting fixtures over the last 16 months, but those ceiling fans have been haunting me the most. The trouble is, I could never really find anything I liked to replace them. Ideally, I would like to have more of a multi-pendant fixture kind of thing over the table, but our beams on the ceiling (which I DO like), make that impossible.

So, on a trip to Home Depot the other day, James saw these fans and thought they would be good replacements. I finally gave up my dream of finding that perfect non-ceiling-fan replacement, and we bought these fellas. Truth is, I really like them. Sometimes it is ok to "settle" because you find out you actually like what you thought you didn't. (I'm talking about the lights still, not James.)   ;)
